About This Job

As a Welder/PDC Bits Blazer, you will perform general repair operations specific to fixed cutter drill bits, and develop skills in brazing, grinding, sandblasting, finishing, and material handling.

Job responsibilities

  • Perform general repair operations specific to fixed cutter drill bits. The candidate will develop skills in brazing, grinding, sandblasting, finishing, and material handling.
  • Braze and repair PDC drill bits
  • Evaluate PDC bits for repair
  • Operate and maintain brazing equipment Understand cutters and shock studs Operate straightening, bending machines, and drill presses
  • Read welding blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Layout patterns and follow technical manuals

Job Requirements

  • 40 hours per week
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Skills: TIG & MIG welding, brazing, hard facing PDC drill bits
  • Education: College/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
  • Experience: 5+ years in maintenance, repair, or new fabrication
  • Materials: Stainless steel, steel, iron, aluminum alloys, and heavy metals
  • Own safety equipment: steel-toed boots, welding helmet
  • Other skills: math skills, writing, communication, working with others, problem solving, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, continuous learning.
