About This Job
As a Welder/PDC Bits Blazer, you will perform general repair operations specific to fixed cutter drill bits, and develop skills in brazing, grinding, sandblasting, finishing, and material handling.
Job responsibilities
- Perform general repair operations specific to fixed cutter drill bits. The candidate will develop skills in brazing, grinding, sandblasting, finishing, and material handling.
- Braze and repair PDC drill bits
- Evaluate PDC bits for repair
- Operate and maintain brazing equipment Understand cutters and shock studs Operate straightening, bending machines, and drill presses
- Read welding blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Layout patterns and follow technical manuals
Job Requirements
- 40 hours per week
- Valid driver’s license
- Skills: TIG & MIG welding, brazing, hard facing PDC drill bits
- Education: College/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
- Experience: 5+ years in maintenance, repair, or new fabrication
- Materials: Stainless steel, steel, iron, aluminum alloys, and heavy metals
- Own safety equipment: steel-toed boots, welding helmet
- Other skills: math skills, writing, communication, working with others, problem solving, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing, continuous learning.
